Emergency Dentistry in Croydon
Dental Pain Cannot Wait — Neither Should You
A dental emergency can happen to anyone, at any time, and when it does, fast and compassionate care makes all the difference. At Croydon Dental Clinic, we take dental emergencies seriously. Whether you are experiencing severe tooth pain, a broken or chipped tooth, a knocked-out tooth, a lost filling, or any other urgent dental concern, we will do everything within our power to see you as quickly as possible and bring you relief.
Common Dental Emergencies We Treat
Dental emergencies vary widely in their nature and urgency. At Croydon Dental Clinic, our clinical team is experienced in assessing and managing a full range of urgent dental situations, including:
- Severe or sudden toothache
- Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
- A tooth knocked out as a result of trauma
- A lost or damaged filling or crown
- A dental abscess or swelling in the mouth or face
- Pain or bleeding following a dental procedure
- Broken or damaged dental appliances causing discomfort
If you are unsure whether your situation constitutes an emergency, please call us anyway. We would always rather speak with you and reassure you than have you suffer in silence.
How to Reach Us in an Emergency
During clinic hours, please call us directly on (03) 8203 2818 and let our team know you have a dental emergency. We will prioritise your call and do our best to fit you in on the same day, or as soon as possible within our schedule.
Outside of clinic hours, please call the same number — (03) 8203 2818. After hours, this line forwards directly to our dentist’s mobile phone. You will be able to speak with a member of our clinical team, who will assess your situation and arrange an urgent appointment at the earliest opportunity. You should never have to face a dental emergency alone or wait until morning without speaking to someone who can help.
Our Commitment to Emergency Patients
We know that patients who come to us in an emergency are often anxious, in pain, or both. Our entire team — from our reception staff to our clinical team — approaches these situations with patience, empathy, and urgency in equal measure.

A Clear Plan for Follow-Up Care
We will explain everything we are doing, take the time to make you comfortable, and ensure that you leave our Croydon clinic not only with your immediate concern addressed, but with a clear and reassuring plan for any follow-up care that may be needed.
If you are not yet a patient of Croydon Dental Clinic, please do not let that stop you from calling us. We welcome emergency patients from across the Croydon area and will do our very best to help you, regardless of whether we have seen you before.

What to Do While You Wait
In some situations, there are steps you can take at home to manage discomfort while you await your appointment:
- Knocked-out tooth:
Handle by the crown (not the root), gently rinse with milk or saline if dirty. Place back in socket if possible, or keep submerged in milk or your own saliva and call immediately. The sooner we see you, the greater the chance of saving the tooth. - Broken tooth:
For a broken tooth with a sharp edge, use dental wax to cover the edge and protect your tongue and cheek while you travel to us.
- Pain and swelling:
Apply an ice pack to the outside of the jaw. Over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen or paracetamol taken as directed may help. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum. - Lost filling or crown:
Dental cement or sugar-free chewing gum can be used as a temporary solution to protect the exposed tooth until we see you.
When in doubt, call our team for guidance.
